Catch Design and Bastion Digital come together to form Bastion CX, strengthening Bastion Aotearoa’s integrated customer experience offering

29 October 2026

Bastion has announced the launch of Bastion CX, bringing its digital and customer experience capabilities together under one global brand. As part of the move, Aotearoa digital consultancy Catch Design will transition to Bastion CX, joining Bastion Digital to form a broader digital and customer experience capability under the new global brand.

For New Zealand, the move marks the next chapter for Catch Design, bringing one of the country’s leading digital consultancies fully under the Bastion brand and further strengthening Bastion Aotearoa’s integrated offering for clients.

The transition to Bastion CX reflects more than a change of name. It creates a unified global customer experience and digital offering, building on the expertise and heritage of Catch Design in New Zealand and connecting it with the scale, multidisciplinary capability and global reach of the Bastion Group.

For Aotearoa clients, this creates greater opportunity to access connected expertise through a single integrated team, while retaining the people, leadership and specialist capability that have built Catch’s reputation in the local market.

Catch has a long history of helping leading New Zealand organisations solve complex customer and business challenges through digital experiences and technology. This includes work with Genesis, 2degrees, One NZ, Mercury, Vision Super, Formthotics, MBIE, TSB, ACC, Team Global Express, Xero, KFC and the NZ Olympic Committee.

While the brand is evolving, the fundamentals remain unchanged. The same leadership team, specialists, values and ambition will continue to drive the business, with the New Zealand team forming an important part of Bastion CX’s growing global capability.

As Bastion’s global digital and customer experience offering, Bastion CX will deliver end-to-end digital transformation, product design, customer experience, platforms and technology solutions, helping modern marketers solve increasingly complex business challenges through integrated thinking.

The move comes as New Zealand organisations navigate a rapidly changing digital landscape, where advances in artificial intelligence, agentic technologies and evolving customer interfaces are reshaping how brands connect with people and what customers expect from those interactions.

Bastion CX is investing in the future of customer experience through SmartTech, its integrated capability spanning advisory, analytics, automation and activation. By combining leading technology with human expertise, SmartTech helps organisations make smarter decisions, unlock deeper customer insights, streamline operations and deliver connected experiences that create lasting business impact.

Operating as part of Bastion’s global ecosystem, Bastion CX is led globally by Tim Den Braber, Group Managing Director CX. The Aotearoa team will draw on expertise from across the Group while bringing its deep understanding of the local market, clients and customers to the wider Bastion CX network.

Catch Design Founder and CEO, Hamish Stevenson, who moves into the role, Managing Partner of Bastion CX, said that while the name is changing, the foundations of the business remain the same.

“The name may be changing, but the people, values and ambition remain exactly the same. Together, we’re building an end-to-end customer experience capability that helps brands, organisations and people navigate change from a position of strength.”

Toby Sellers, CEO of Bastion Aotearoa, said Catch Design’s transition to Bastion CX strengthens the breadth of expertise available to clients in Aotearoa.

“Catch Design has built a strong reputation in Aotearoa by using technology to solve real business problems rather than as an end in itself and Bastion Digital has been an imperative part of our offering for our clients. Coming together to form Bastion CX builds on that foundation, giving clients access to broader capability across advisory, analytics, automation and activation, alongside the same people and relationships they already know.

“In many organisations, brand, marketing and digital experience were built at different times to solve different problems, so they sit in different parts of the business. Customers don’t experience them that way. They move between an ad, an app and a service interaction in minutes and view all of it as one relationship. The opportunity we see is in how closely Bastion CX now sits alongside our creative, media, design, communications, insights and production teams. It means the work can arrive connected rather than needing to be connected.”

The approach is already in market. Bastion’s work on the Genesis brand transformation, launched in August, brought customer experience design and digital delivery together with brand strategy, identity, design, advertising, public relations and internal communications from the outset, unifying three legacy brands into a single customer-facing identity.

The transition connects the New Zealand team more closely with Bastion CX capabilities across Australia and the United States, creating opportunities to share specialist expertise, technology and thinking across markets while continuing to deliver locally relevant solutions for New Zealand clients.

Looking ahead, Bastion CX will continue to invest in the technologies, talent and partnerships shaping the future of customer experience, helping New Zealand organisations harness emerging capabilities including AI, automation and intelligent digital ecosystems to drive meaningful business outcomes.
